![]() Create your own original protagonist and embark on an adventure that will take you through devastated locales across Japan during the Sengoku period. I might check it out again, if Valve rates it Playable or Verified, maybe they can do something about why it's not feeling smooth.Experience the thrill of taking on hordes of fearsome yokai in a battle to the death in this brutal masocore Action RPG. Still, it is portable Nioh and it's probably playable. You'd probably need to use headphones or turn up the speakers to drone that out and keep it charged for any extended gaming sessions.Ĭontrols are fine, just need to get used to the slightly different placements. The fan also goes absolutely ham and the air that's getting put out is hot. You have these moments, where it looks and feels fine (for a second or two), so you know how it could be, but unless I had no other choice, it's not something I'd really enjoy. However, despite the game staying at 60 most of the time, it doesn't feel smooth at all. This resulted in pretty much locked 60 FPS during gameplay, except one or two dips. The game defaulted to the lowest settings, 720p and 50% render scale. I used GE Proton 7-17, the current latest version. I just did one quick Twilight Mission, nothing else. Just a report my very short test of Nioh 2 on the Deck. This is all new to me and once you get the Steam Deck, share you experience. This is probably just a correlation but Nioh 2 is known to have video and cutscene problems according to the protondb website. This applies to Soul Cores video demonstration. On the Weapon Skill Tree menu, if the video demonstration of an ability doesn't play at all or missing, it is an indicator that the game is about to crash. I want to spread the word that this game is playable on Steam Deck.ĮDIT: I discovered something interesting when playing last night. Note: I made a similar post on the r/SteamDeck but I posted here for the people on this subreddit. If you have played Nioh 2 on the Steam Deck, please share your experience and if you have better compatibility settings, let me know as well. Rest assured, the game works well on the Steam Deck even on 60 FPS. I posted my experience here to share my current experience of the game and I would like to share awareness that the game works well despite it being Unsupported. However, they didn't progress further in the game to see the crashes I listed above. Nioh 2 game load times is relatively quick so it's not very annoying.Ĭonclusion:'s Nioh 2 on Steam Deck showed the the game runs well on the Steam Deck. Infinite loading time after dying happened once and you have to exit the game to play the game. For clarification, you get sent back on the SteamOS as soon as your game crashes. Playing the game at 30 FPS and super lowering the settings doesn't fix the crashes. I didn't know you can in the world map and I lost about an hour dismantling weapons and putting points on skills. I recommend saving the game frequently once you're on the world map. It's happens pretty common and it's annoying. Majority of Crashes happen when you're on the Shrine Menu specifically Managing Spirits and Sour Core. Gameplay is smooth and the controls feel really tight and responsive. Elden Ring's 30 FPS feels smoother by far than the Nioh 2. Note I'm aiming for the best possible performance and the game will still run at 60 FPS with higher texture settings but the FPS will become more noticeable.ģ0 FPS cap feels really choppy. I also turned off Shadow and Motion blur. You can change the quality but you will see FPS dips when you're turning your camera. I'm playing the game on the low graphics settings to maintain 60 FPS. I went with 60% resolution because the FPS dips are less frequent. The game runs 60 FPS mostly in the game with 30 FPS cutscenes. The game stays at 60 FPS even though if you select 120 FPS cap. Graphics are set to low and the 60 FPS locked at the game settings. Resolution is locked at 1280x720 with 60% resolution. Gameplay Performance, Resolution, and Graphics Have not tested other compatibility versions. Tried Proton 7.0 and Proton Experimental and cutscenes don't work. You will have to manually download this compatibility patch. The game is playable despite being Unsupported. Steam Deck Info: Official Info that Nioh 2 is Unsupported on Steam Deck. Here is just my Nioh 2 experience from the Steam Deck: I'm a bit surprised there's not a lot of recent information about this game being played on the Steam Deck. So I bought Nioh 2 after seeing 's Nioh 2 performance on the Steam Deck.
